Southern Crescent Pearls Cotillion

The Southern Crescent Pearls Foundation, Inc. was created in November 2008, with Stephanie Oliver serving as the first Cotillion Chairperson. Sub-Committees were formed comprised of committed Chapter and Foundation members. On March 16, 2013, 6 Debutantes were presented to the Atlanta community through the Debutante Cotillion. This signature program promotes and cultivates in the young ladies Elegance, Scholarship and Poise. Since the Cotillion’s inception, The Southern Crescent Pearls Foundation, Inc, uses the program as a means of awarding scholarships dollars to young women for their scholastic achievement, community service, fundraising, and overall participation in the program. Funding for the scholarships comes from patron donations and solicitations.

The primary focus was, and continues to be, academic achievement, social and professional etiquette, personal image development, self-esteem building, mentoring, leadership and life skills, health and nutrition awareness, college planning and career preparation and community service and scholarship. The Southern Crescent Pearls Cotillion’s Cotillion Program is open to young ladies who are rising High School Seniors and Juniors in the Metropolitan Atlanta area.  These young ladies must also have demonstrated exemplary moral and ethical standards, academic performance as documented by a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher, and involvement in the community.

Program Overview

The mission of the Debutante Cotillion is to provide scholarships and promote community service and volunteerism for high school juniors and seniors.  Part of the key to the success of the program is the spirit of sisterhood and development that is instilled in the participants in a fun and memorable environment. The Debutante Cotillion program is made up of five key components:

  • ·         Workshops
  • ·         Community Service / volunteerism
  • ·         Special programs
  • ·         Rehearsals
  • ·         The Debutante Cotillion Presentation

The 2012-2013  Cotillion Season was a huge success.  Miss Marquisia Moss was crowned “Miss Southern Crescent Pearl 2013” and will reign until the culmination of the next Debutante Cotillion. Miss Brianna Robinson and Miss Lisa Petty were crowned the first and second runners up respectively.

The success of this program can be attributed not only to the commitment and hard work of both the Chapter and Foundation members, but also to the generous contributions of various community organizations and individuals. Over $7500 in scholarships were awarded to Miss Southern Crescent Pearl and her court.
